We’re promoting fair and equitable access to the Gulf of Mexico’s fish—and fishing—and we know this requires a plan that’s sustainable. By respecting the Gulf of Mexico as an American resource, we can provide affordable fishing opportunities to all. That, in turn, provides stable economic benefits to coastal communities who rely on Gulf waters and beaches for revenue, jobs and growth. Together, we can all provide future generations the chance to fish a healthy, beautiful Gulf of Mexico.
America’s Gulf is a growing coalition of recreational anglers and conservationists who support accessible, sustainable fisheries. Outdated recreational fisheries management in the Gulf has left several groups of “forgotten anglers” at the dock, including snowbirds and working class anglers. America’s Gulf aims to serve as a platform to amplify the voice of truly conservation minded anglers, business owners, and organizations. Fishing folks from around the country are calling for more flexibility and better data collection. Based on these needs, our goals are to:
- Build and connect a nationwide community of conservation-minded anglers and advocates that champion responsible recreational fishery reform
- Promote fisheries management that uses the best available science, including new and innovative data sources from recreational anglers
- Support common sense regulatory framework that promotes healthy fish stocks and sustainable angler access to those fish
